About Me

My name is Timmy Hernandez. I am a former Oregon State football player who has started diving into sports analytics. While my background is in mechanical/aerospace engineering, I knew I would enjoy the sports analytics world when I learned R and found the NFLverse. From there, I discovered so many more possibilities about how to use data to view sports in a different way.

I am currently enrolled in a Masters in Data Science program at Eastern University with an expected graduation date of March 2025. The coursework for this program has a heavy emphasis on Machine Learning while also introducing me to SQL, Tableau, Natural Language Processing, and many more common Data Science skills.

While my work has been mostly private, my highlights have been making Pass Rate Over Expected charts weekly for DraftSharks the last two NFL seasons and having one of my data visualizations retweeted by an AP sports reporter.

I look forward to continue learning more about how data can be used in sports, whether it be through roster construction, play calling, or even sports betting. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any comments, questions, or recommendations!
